More about the role

We are looking for an Accountant with a deep knowledge of U.S. accounting principles to keep the accounting and financial processes of the company up to standard and to ensure accurate financial reporting and control. 

You will report to the Director of Finance and work closely with the People and Finance team. 

On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Process all regular accounting processes such as A/P, journal entries, maintaining G/L and chart of accounts, and A/R from multiple payment gateways

  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, participation in annual audits, and preparing financial reports/support as necessary

  • Report on financial status including income statement variances, communicating financial results to management, and budget information

  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions

  • Manage state and federal tax payments, associated reporting, and abide by federal regulations

  • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, forecasts

  • Help in development of reports for management or external partners

  • Ownership of A/P, A/R, and Payroll

Skills and experience we're looking for:

Ideally, we're looking for someone who has some or all of the following as a background:

  • Past experience as a financial controller, assistant controller, and/or accountant
  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience

  • Understanding of SaaS metrics such as MRR, ARR, LTV, CAC, etc. 

  • Attentive to accuracy in details

  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize

  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)

  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations

  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills

  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process

  • SaaS experience and understanding of subscription based business models is preferred but not required

  • BS/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field is preferred but not required

  • Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus but not required
